The Congenital Heart Defects Families Association is a Kansas City area
not-for-profit incorporated in the state of Kansas as not for profit corporation
working to bring comfort and support to area families affected by congenital
heart defects.  Support groups, distribution of educational literature, and
comfort items for children undergoing cardiac procedures are the
Association's main focus.  Additionally, the Association  functions to raise
money and awareness to promote congenital heart defects research through a
variety of projects.  One hundred percent volunteer run, the CHD Families
Association strives to maximize investment in its work, not its overhead.  We
are the only support system in the Kansas City area for children with heart
defects and their families.
Why should I donate money to
the Congenital Heart Defects Families
Association,
and where does it all go?
So many of you already know the answer to this question as you have been supported in some way by the Association
during your new role as part of a “CHD family.”  Whether it was by a blanket being delivered to your child after heart
surgery, a hospital visit from a friendly face who has walked your path before, or the comfort of our support group and
bulletin board, we can’t exist without donations.

Your donations are needed to:
  • Purchase fabric for our homemade “Blankets for the Heart,”  given to local heart kids who are in the hospital.
  • Purchase heart defects awareness merchandise; such as lapel pins, silicone bracelets, car magnets, and
bumper stickers, and expand into new, requested items.  The Association makes little money in profits off these
items, as its mission is to spread awareness, not profit.
  • Keep our web site and web store running and hosted.
  • Publish brochures and information to distribute to new heart families at local hospitals.
  • To provide home-cooked meals, hospital "care packages" and additional family support and comfort services
during a Kansas City area heart child’s hospitalization(s).
The vast majority of money stays in the Kansas City metro area.
What your donation can do:
$10 - can buy toy for a hospitalized child.
$25 - can feed dinner to a hospitalized child’s family.
$35 - can provide a “hospital care pack” for a hospitalized child & family.
$50 - can provide fabric for 5-6 custom “Blankets from the Heart.”
$75+ - can do even more for Kansas City heart children and their families.
